구약의 룻기 줄거리를 요약하면, 모압지방에 사는 나오미라는 여인이 남편과 두 아들이 죽자 살길이 막막한 가운데 자신과 같은 미망인 처지가 된 두 며느리들, 룻과 오르바에게 너희족속으로 돌아가서 재혼해서 잘 살라고 당부 하지만 룻은 끝까지 시어머니 나오미를 따라 자신에게는 낯선 타국인 이스라엘로 쫓아간다. 거기서 추수가 끝난 남의 밭에 들어가 찌꺼기를 거두며(Gleaning-밭주인이 가난한 사람들을 위해 추수를 대충하고 일부러 조금 남겨두는 것을 거두는 것) 생계를 이어가던 룻이 그 밭의 주인 보아스의 눈에 띄고 급기야는 룻의 아름다운 마음씨에 감동한 보아스가 룻을 아내로 맞이하게 된다. 해피엔딩인데 이 보아스와 룻이 골리앗을 눕힌 다윗왕의 증조할아버지 할머니가 되고, 오랜 시간이 지난 후 역시 이 가계에서 예수스리스도께서 태어나게(호적상으로) 된다. ㅋ ㅋ 녀석들이 여자는 안 하겠다고 해서 내가 천상 나오미 역할을 맡게 생겼다. ㅡ.ㅡ;;

(Scene 01) in Moab
Narrator: This story happened long before Jesus Christ was born 2000 years ago and has something to do deeply with the birth of King David and our lord Jesus Christ.
Naomi(in despair): Ruth and Orpah, now my husband and all of my sons are dead.
Ruth(desperately): How can we stay alive without our men from now on?
Naomi: That’s what I’m talking about! I will go back to my country and you girls go back to your families and remarry to the good men.
Orpah(crying): Oh, no! We don’t want to leave you alone, Naomi!
Ruth(also crying): Please, Naomi! Let us stay with you!
Naomi: No. You girls are still young and beautiful and I am old and ugly. Please leave me and go on with your own lives!
Orpah: OK, then I will go back to my family. Sorry, later girls!
Ruth: Naomi! I won’t leave you. I will go where you go and I will die where you die!
Naomi: Oh, Ruth! My precious child! Let’s go!
-------------------------------------------------------------
(Scene 02) in Israel
Narrator: Now, Naomi and Ruth have moved to Israel and found a shelter.
Ruth: Naomi, I will go out the field today and glean to get some grain for dinner.
Naomi: Where are you going?
Ruth: Boaz’s corn field.
Naomi: Boaz? Oh, he is known to be a nice, generous, and God honoring man. Matter of fact, he is a relative of my late husband.
---------------------------------------------------------------
(Scene 03) Boaz’s corn field
Narrator: Ruth was picking grains among other poor people and Boaz was looking around his corn field.
Boaz(looking at Ruth): What is your name, dear?
Ruth: My lord. My name is Ruth, the daughter-in-law of Naomi.
Boaz(with surprise): Really? I have heard that you have stayed with that old woman and cared for her even though you could have left her. You are a beautiful woman, inside out! I know, I am going a little too fast but…would you marry me?
Ruth: My lord. What an offer! But I need some time to think about it and come back to you tomorrow.
Boaz: Well, then. Go in peace!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Scene 04) at the shelter
Narrator: Naomi and Ruth are having dinner made of the grain that Ruth has collected at the corn field.
Ruth(with excitement): Naomi! I met the owner of the corn field, Boaz, today. He is a tall and good looking guy! He proposed to marry me!
Naomi: What? Baby, you just hit the jackpot! If you marry him, we don’t have to worry about the food and a place to sleep!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
(Scene 05) Boaz’s corn field
Narrator: Next day, Boaz was the first person at the corn field and started waiting for Ruth to show up.
Boaz(with big smile): Well, my dear. How are you today and have you thought about what I asked?
Ruth: My lord. YES!!!!! I will marry you!
Boaz(hugging Ruth): Oh, thank you, Ruth! I will take care of you and Naomi for the rest of your lives and make you happy!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Scene 06) Boaz and Ruth’s mansion
Narrator: Few years after they got married, they had a baby.
Ruth( with new born baby in her arms and humming a lullaby): Honey! What name have you come up with for our baby boy, Boaz?
Boaz: How about ‘Obed’?
Ruth: That is a totally awesome name!
Narrator: Obed will have a son named ‘Jesse’ many years later. Jesse will have a son, ‘David’, who will be the King of Israel. But most importantly, Jesus Christ our Lord will be born from the descendant of this family many many years later. The END.
