아버지소식

사랑하는 가족(지인)들에게,

혹시 아이들이 서로 연락을 하면서 무슨 큰 일이 난 것 처럼 이야기가 불어나 여러식구들을 놀라게 할까 여기에 정확한 소식을 전합니다.

오늘 아침에 교회버스를 기다리시다가 넘어져 계시는걸 같이 버스를 타시는 어르신이 발견하시고 제게 연락을 하셨지요. 그래서 바로 응급차를 불렀는데 그러는 사이에 완전히 정상으로 돌아오셨음. 병원에 가길 원치않으시는 걸 그래도 원인을 알아야겠다 싶어 응급실로 모시고 갔지요.

지난번에도 비슷한 증상으로 입원하셔서 왼쪽대동맥이 70프로 정도 막혔다는 것을 발견했고 의사들이 튜브를 넣어 확장하는 방법과 약물치료를 하는 것을 논의하다가 결국은 약물치료쪽으로 정했었는데 이번 검사결과를 보고 만인 같은 원인이라면 이번에는 제가 튜브로 확장하는 걸 요구해야 되지 싶습니다.

현재 완전히 정상으로 돌아오셔서 침대에 계속 앉아 계시고 응급실에서는 식사를 안주는 건지 내가 구내식당에서 사와 드시게 했는데 식사도 아주 잘하셨음. 며칠 병원에 입원해 계시면서 몇가지 검사를 하고 조치를 취하기로 의사와 이야기를 방금 마쳤습니다. 무슨 큰일 난 게 아니니 걱정들 하지 마시라고 여기에 적습니다.

엄마는 아직 재활병원에 계시는데 많이 좋아지셨고 재활운동을 잘 감당하시고 있어 몇 주 안에 퇴원하실 수 있기를 바래봅니다. 좀 걱정스러운 건 신체적으론 멀쩡하시지만 생각하시는 것과 기억이 들랄날락 해 알츠하이머 끼가 생긴게 아닌가 싶네요. 물론 완전회복과 동시에 그런 증세가 없어질 꺼라는 소망은 있지만.

Dear children of our family,

I am writing this because the text messages about the status of grandpa must have been flying around already and made you guys worried. But I want you know that he is fine and well.

He collapsed in this morning while he was waiting for the Church ride and was found by his friend nearby apartment unit. Upon his friend's frantic phone call, I called 911 for help. Even before ER crew arrived there, grandpa came ouf of unconsciousness and back to normal. Against his will not to go to ER, I forced him and ER crew to take him to the hospital because I wanted to get down to the bottom of it and find out what causes it and the way to stop it.

As you know, he had a similar episode few months go. At the time, the doctors found that he had 70%blockage on his left mail artery and were debating whether they want to put a tube to enlarge the the blocked area or to treat it with medication. They decided to use the medication and discharged him. This time, I am going to demand them to use the tube if their tests prove the blockage is the culprit again.

He is sitting up most of time, very strong and just had a lunch that I had brought in without leaving any food for me. :-) He will be staying here for next few days to go through a series of tests.

As far as grandma goes, she is doing much better now taking all the exercises the rehap gives. I am hoping that she can go back home within few weeks. When it comes to the physical condition of her, she is doing extremely well but her thinking hasn't been straight. I suspect that she is getting minor symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and pray that those symptoms will go away when she gets back up to 100% of her health.
